What was your inspiration?
The client wanted a champagne bottle. We initially wanted to do an isomalt bottle but the cost of making a mold or buying one played a big factor in deciding to do a cake bottle. This cake was made for a very classy 80 year old lady, so I added the single rose and made the string of pearls to make it more feminine.
What are you most proud of?
I'm proud of the whole cake, but my husband says I'm a little anal and can always find fault with my projects.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
As with anything with gum paste accessories, plan ahead. I put some tylose in the fondant for the box so it would be more sturdy.
