What advice would you give someone starting this project? To mark the pin tucks, before removing the pattern tissue from the cut fabric,I inserted pins along the lines on the pattern and made small dots on the RS every inch or so with water soluble marker. Then I folded along the marks and edge stitched, taking care to stitch so that the metallic side would be up after the tucks were pressed to the centers. For finer or dry clean fabrics I would have thread traced the lines. For the metallic topstitching, it is much easier to use it in the bobbin than in the needle, and using the edge stitching foot kept it straight and even. I also hand prick stitched the collar band facing in place with a double strand of metallic thread, just for fun, although I was not able to photograph this detail adequately.

I have this beautiful pattern and have been too intimidated to try modifying it to accommodate my fatness. I love what you have done as well as the eminently sensible modifications you have made to the construction procedures. Thanks so much for both your attitude and expertise :)

Hunny13, I have this pattern too but I was leery of having to upsize it. I'm going to go for it! Barbara, the advice you offer on this pattern is a class in itself Thank you!
