I used lavender crystals (saucer shaped about 4x8mm), amethyst crystals with copper foil exterior linings (round, aprx 10mm), purple seed beads, copper seed beads, sugilite (or similar) ovals (approx 20mm long). I also used a copper tone S clasp but a toggle clasp would work, or if the necklace is long enough, no clasp is needed. I used copper jump rings, a copper tone decorative spacer and a pewter tone bar to attach the pendant to the spacer. The pendant and most of the beads were purchased at Michaels.
What was your inspiration?
I found the pendant first and really wanted to do something with the copper tone of the sun and moon. I am allergic to metal and can't wear chain or metallic beads next to my skin so I was thrilled when I found the foil covered amethyst to anchor the copper.
What are you most proud of?
This is the most crystal I've ever used in one necklace. Adding the natural stone helps keep it from being too glitzy and over-the-top. I'm also amazed by how many outfits it goes with despite the quite distinctive colors!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I'm fairly tall at 5 feet 7 inches, be cautious of how something this long and heavy will play on your body type. The pendant hits me about 4 inches above my natural waist.
