Instructions

I love how this pattern goes together. I main large print fabric and you get all these different looking blocks (and it is all done with squares-even though it is an on point setting).

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual, Whimsical

Materials

Cotton fabric and poly batting.

What was your inspiration?

The fabric. It was a cute fabric of cats in a chocolate shop.

What are you most proud of?

I love this pattern and how you put it together (no triangles). It truly is magical.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun. It is a challenge, but if you take your time and line up the fabric before cutting it really is easy and all the blocks came out really neat (no need to fussy cut). I have done several quilt using this pattern as it looks like you have used many fabrics, but really it is only 1 main fabric (it needs to be a large print with lots of action).

I have a larger one with a sea print that I just go done picking out about 10 or the 30 blocks I started to machine quilt. Started 1 time and was not doing so well so I quit then when I started again I used a different color thread and didn't like that result. So now I am going to practice and it is on my list of things to do this summer. Just got my new sewing machine and quilted 2 lap size quilts for the quilt guild yesterday. What thread do you like for machine quilting?

I really like aurifil thread a lot for machine quilting - the 50 weight seems to be just right, not too heavy and comes in lots of colors.

I love this one! So easy and so versatile. There are some fantastic large prints available right now, so this might be my next quick and easy project.

Thanks ladies. As I said I love this pattern, only uses 4 fabrics, but looks like a whole lot more. Have a couple more quilts in various stages using this pattern. I will try to get pictures up soon and hope to get them quilted and finished this summer.
