Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Retro / Vintage, Classic

Materials

lots of muslin and scraps

What was your inspiration?

I had a neighbor who had this quilt in her guest room and I loved looking at this quilt. My neighbor showed me how to achieve my own Cathedral Window quilt.

What are you most proud of?

this quilt took a long time to make, and I worked on it with every minute. It took just over 2 years to finish

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

the project is not difficult but is very time consuming. Take your time and do a little at at time.

This is my favorite quilt , but no one in my area has a class on it that I can find. I just can't figure it out from a book I have. If someone is giving a class or has made one, perhaps I could follow those directions. This lady does beautiful work! Very inspiring.

gorgeous! love it, I'm slowly making myself one with Japanese fabrics, very slow work with lots of hand sewing. But seeing yours has inspired me to keep going . Well done . How long did it take to make your quilt?

I've wanted to make a Cathedral Window quilt since the first time I saw one. Your is beautiful. Maybe I will start one as soon. I'm thinking it might be a good one to do completely by hand and could be a great take-a-long project.

thank you have checked this out, think i'm doing my cathedral quilt the long way, instead of using one square folded, mine is 8 squares sewn together to make the window, ie 2 light blue squares folded in half tacked onto square of beige fabric, repeat for 3 more squares , then joined to gether to make a window . then a "picture " fabric with thin batting placed in centre and then roll then blue fabric over raw edges of ' picture" , sew but not thru all layers so that the window is 3D.

I hav one started--been at it for about 6 months. I look forward to finishing it 'someday'. You are right, it is not difficult, but is VERY time consuming. Living in snow country, I hope to get a great deal done on it this winter when the snow is blowing and I can't do anything outside anyway. Your quilt is lovely!!
