What was your inspiration?

A friends cat had an awful accident and has fought against the odds... I think she deserves to convalesce in comfort so made this cheerful little quilt for her. I made it in to a pillowcase cover and have put a wool rest blanket inside... she could snuggle inside it like a sleeping bag too, if that takes her fancy ;-)

What are you most proud of?

My FMQ is improving! (and my stencil collection is growing too LOL) And yes Cindy I ESS'd it... or EBS'd it as one would say downunder ;-)

Pam what size are your squares? I want to make this pattern in a larger size overall. it looks like your squares are about 6". what size did you cut the 1/2 square triangles in for the pinwheel?

Main squares were cut to 6" and 1/2 sq triangles were 4" cut squares... can't wait to see yours!

EBS...my Australian students renamed ESS...they call it "every bloody seam" instead of "every stinkin seam" :)

Pam, this is SO nice! I love your cat material, very cute, and I do hope poor kitty gets better quickly, but I know your sweet quilt will help kitty along in her recovery. I am very impressed with your quilting. I have stencils, but have never used them so you have me very intrigued. Did you lay out your stencil and use a disappearing ink pen and then quilted? I would love to know more, you have me wanting to pull out my stencils! Great job Pam!

*blushes* gee thanks Tanya... best you think about adding Cindy's Design It, Quilt It class, she takes stencils to a whole new level! And she's great fun too! I used white pounce powder in the centre part but found it disappeared to quick so used a water eraseable pen for the border.... much easier! I only followed the stencil for this one, wanted to keep it simple but Cindy teaches you how to take a stencil and make it your own.... great class!

Thanks Pam, I just may have a look at that class. At any rate I think I will consider the stencils I have thanks to you, and see about using them rather than storing them!

Pardon my ignorance - but what's ESS/EBS? (I'm probably being very thick!) I love the quilt and hope the little cat gets well soon - it's horrible when animals are ill or have accidents, they can't tell us how much or where it's hurting, can they? This little quilt will make her feel MUCH better, I'm sure!

ESS is Cindy's abbreviation in her class for "every sodden seam" to be stitched in the ditch... and she means EVERY one! EBS is her newest version of it picked up from her recent trip down under to Australia... a word also well used here in NZ LOL ;-) Can't wait to hear what Valley and her Mum think of her get well quilt!
