Dupioni Silk, Floriani embroidery threads to match each color of silk.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make a quilt for my son's wedding and I wanted to try embroideries on Dupioni Silk and had an assortment of autumn colors. This was a fall wedding.

What are you most proud of?

I think it turned out beautifully and the newlyweds loved it! And it goes beautifully on their deep brown sofa.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The blocks were individually embroidered/quilted, then cut and sewn together in quilt as you go style. The handwork took longer than I thought. Also, serge the edges of the silk. It frays terribly and as I was working on this quilt my sewing room looked like silkworms had had a big party!
