Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Classic

Materials

I used Red Heart Designer Sport yarn

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration was the playpen, diaper bag and stroller set that we picked out for our baby boy. Any shade in the red family can be one of my favorites, so I made it the main color to create a plaid pattern to match his accessories.

What are you most proud of?

The neatness of the blanket and that I created it with minimal planning, as well as finishing it before the weather turned cold

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make your own bobbins from cardboard rather than carrying the yarn across. Since the colors change so frequently to create the patten, the bobbins allowed the color changes to be neat and the fabric isn't thick and stiff. This was a great project for me to practice making the color change as neat as possible so that the back is almost as neat

Is this tunisian crochet? I really like the plaid, did you make the pattern yourself?

Thank you! It's made entirely of single crochet. I did make the pattern myself. I started with a sketch on graph paper as a general template, and I got started. I ended up with quite a few more rows than I anticipated to get the almost square shape, but that was part of the fun.
