Carpenter's Star

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
A Carpenter's Star »

Instructions

Take your time and enjoy the process of piecing your work of art together!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

100% cotton of course! Shades of mauve, gray, tan, mauve and purple complement each other beautifully. The backing recommended by the woman who does my machine quilting was a beautiful, gray, super-soft minky type woven fleece.

What was your inspiration?

In 2004, I fell in love with and purchased the fabric used in this quilt, without a clue as to how I would be using it - I just figured, "meh - I will figure out what to make soon enough." Eight years later, I stumbled across this pattern and there was no doubt that THIS was the one!

My only problem now, is my trepidation at actually putting this quilt on my bed, for fear one of my cats will promptly hock up a hair ball on it, or my Great Dane will claim it as his own!

What are you most proud of?

The mitred borders are essential - I struggled a bit as it was a new technique, but I'm glad I didn't give into my self doubt and opt for a regular border. The piecing was simple and the quilt itself came together easily, but I would classify it as intermediate for the skill level required.
