What materials did you use? Cotton, fusible web, silver thread, foil, silver lame, organdy, and over 200 beads ...21" X 21"

What are you most proud of? The palm tree motif really made the quilt !!! Without that, it was blah, even with the bright colors, Then I added the moon and silver rays, followed by about 150 stars (beads) foiled on some waves, and added over 50 aqua beads to represent the beautiful water to complete the picture.... The back is a very dark blue with little white stars on it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? It really is a fun class. Have fun and put your ruler away. In my case fusing on a motif worked instead of investing in silk screening materials. I have ideas for future backgrounds, that are more calm, but this was my first attempt and I only used materials that I had on hand.

And, good luck at the Fair! I am originally from San Rafael, California and know the area very well! Judith

Hi Judith, I got a peek at my quilt after it was judged and hung at the Santa Rosa Fair. (I was turning in 2 quilted purses) and I spied a robbon on it. :-) I really want to see the judges comments on the back of the card. The fair opens on the 25th. es

Oh wow now all we need is a lounge and a cool drink.

Wouldn't that be great in this hot weather !

I picked up this entry from the Santa Rosa Fair on Monday. I couldn't wait to read the comments by the judge... She didn't say anything about the background, but liked the Palm tree as a focal point and called it a study in glitz techniques... 3rd place in "Other" category.

A great idea for multi coloured blocks - it looks really effective.
