What needles did you use? US 9 / 5.5 mm / UK 5

What materials did you use? I used a yarn called Cash Vero (55% merino wool, 33% microfiber, 12% cashmere) and ordered handmade ceramic buttons from a woman on etsy. I used US size 7 and 9 needles to obtain gauge. I made this cardigan for my mom, who has been knitting for us as long as I can remember. Which is a long time! The buttons are very much my mom, and I'm going to see her next weekend to give it to her.

Looks great! I love the pockets!

Thank you! I thought long and hard about those pockets. I think she'll only use them for tissues, but I wanted them to be hardy. The basketweave pattern felt a little stronger than a straight stockinette - but who knows? Plus she loves thatched roof cottages, and this gave them a feel of that. I decided to pick up stitches at the bottom and add them that way, vs. at the top of the ribbing or as patch pockets. It seemed a more natural location, and a little cleaner than stitching on patch pockets.

The basketweave pockets are a superb addition! What a thoughtful gift for your mom...lucky lady :)

Thanks! I thought the pockets would look a little like a thatched roof, which my mom really likes.
