What materials did you use? Cotton fabric scraps, lots of thread, trim, polyfill, stitch witchery, buttons.

What are you most proud of? Some of the women made stitch bibles and were amazed at what they really had on their machines. Some experimented and created with the utility stitches. I now find these stitches incorporated into most quilting projects. That makes me happy. They learned to stretch out and use a new technique. It wasn't exactly Carol's techniques and the class would NOT do hand embroidery at all. They have done it all their lives and now think it is old fashioned. I do it and they are always amazed. It will come back as they learn and grow.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use fusible batting as you can obtain it in most places. Get great scraps or save them. I bought these off Ebay as they were beautiful Japanese scraps by the pound.

Deysy Serrano has been with our classes for three years and her abilities have grown so much. I wish she had a computer to see this.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful creative technique with these people. Their creations are unique, so colorful and functional. I hope they have a computer and are able to know how much these purses spark smiles.
