Pattern Info
Light & Lacy Afghan
Instructions
I have posted a pic of the written instructions that came with the Mainstays yarnDifficulty:
Category: Crocheting
Type of item: Functional
For: Unisex
Style: Casual
Materials
The original pattern was done in 1 color and called for 5 skeins (8 oz) of solid color or 6 skeins variegated. I wanted to add color plus increase the size of the afghan so I used: - Approx. 3 7oz skeins each - Redheart yarn 4ply worsted weight - 3 colors of your choosing - Hook size J-10 (6mm)
What was your inspiration?
I wanted to make a blanket for my daughter in the colors that she really liked. I found this pattern on a skein of Mainstay yarn. Unfortunately, I don't think that this yarn is available any longer.
What are you most proud of?
It came out beautifully and my daughter absolutely loved it. As with all craft projects that I have worked on, it makes me proud to know that I made it with my own hands. It gives me a satisfying feeling. The pink, purple and black was made for Candi. I made the Chocolate Cherry one for my bed. I used Bernat Chunky yarn in Aran, Cherry and the variegated yarn is Chocolate Cherry.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
No advice to give on this except just have fun and don't be afraid to experiment with different colors! It's a pretty simple pattern and was a lot of fun to make!
