What was your inspiration?
Im so excited to share you that I was invited to feature a cake for CakeCentral Magazine.
This was in the works late October and now Ive been informed officially that my cake photos will be on the December 2012, Volume 3 Issue 11 Winter Gold Wedding section of Cake Central Magazine!
In addition, my cake was chosen to kickoff the Winter Gold Wedding Theme! Im so amazed and excited all swirled up together!

I was provided three themed photos which were included on the introduction page of the Winter Cakes. (Photo 1-2 & 4 on the left /Three Birds, Chevron Invitation Card and Gold Leaf Wreath)
The key focus on their requirement was SIMPLE, ELEGANT and GOLD. I went through several sketches to try and out-do myself (since its my first magazine cake), then I lost the whole scheme of the theme and the simplicity.
SO, I came up with the following cake...

I truly stayed within the theme (aside from the flowers), and not to overcrowd the cake with too many elements; however I think the Chevron (zigzag) was enough to give it that certain touch.
Top Tier Fondant and airbrushed in Gold edible paint
Middle Tier Fondant and cover with crystallized sugar. Gold leaves we individually made with gumpaste then airbrushed gold. The flowers where hand made with and used petal dust to color.
Bottom Tier Fondant airbrushed in gold with fondant Chevron design
Thank you for looking!
What are you most proud of?
I'm glad I didn't go buck wild and make the cake look too busy.
