Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This was a small 6" and 4" vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream and raspberry jam inside. I had no actual plans and did not start baking it until 7pm the night before i wanted it - I didn't sleep too much! I just decided to try the ribbon roses as I had been watching that part of Gary's class. They were trickier than he makes it look! But I enjoyed making them.

How did you make the lace?

HI! Thank you for your kind comments :) Actually I'm in UK so we tend to spell mum with a 'u' here. The lace is made using a special silicone lace mat and special lace mix powder which you can buy most places these days as it is all the rage! You add water to the powder and whisk then spread thinly over your mat and leave to dry for a few hours, some of them you can oven bake on very low. Hope that helps.
