What was your source for this recipe? Improvisational

Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Butter cream, bittersweet chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, baking chocolate, printable icing sheets, gum paste, food color paste and gels, piping bags and tips 104, 21, 5, 66; cake ingredients for yellow and deep chocolate cake. Fillings were raspberry and chocolate bittersweet ganache. The butterfly was made of gum paste colored with food coloring, added to bring some life and movement to this cake.

What are you most proud of? People ate it and were surprised by how realistic it looked. One even stuck his finger into the butter cream edges because of his disbelief.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Working with butter cream in a warm environment is not the easiest thing to do. Add more Crisco to butter ratio to help stiffen this.

Amazing!

Hello. This bible cake is just spectacular and i haven't seen any other cake as good as your details. I'm interested in making something similar and I was just wondering what is below the bible? Is it a sheet cake? And if so, how did you attach it?

It is basically a sheet cake but in two layers, to get the height I wanted. The Bible itself has its own cardboard drum so I placed several straws or wooden dowels in this bottom tier so to give support when I placed the Bible on top of it. Hope this helps.

My intent was to create a Bible that was heavily used as a research tool for Bible students...in cake form. The students ate this cake after their class was over. The top tier (Bible) was vanilla cake and the bottom tier was chocolate.

Awesome work! I would have eaten it as well if i could :-) Many bakers don't make a book/ Bible cake with the curve of the pages underneath. How were u able to do that without breaking the cake? I can't tell by the picture if it's a hole or if something is stuffed in it.

Thank you. I actually carved a small hole and placed dark icing in it then took fondant, rolled and striped and placed at its edge. I had a big open book which I looked at while developing this Bible and so tried to mimic the realism I found in its curved pages and binding as this was the effect I was after.
