Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Butter cream, bittersweet chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, baking chocolate, printable icing sheets, gum paste, food color paste and gels, piping bags and tips 104, 21, 5, 66; cake ingredients for yellow and deep chocolate cake. Fillings wer raspberry and chocolate bittersweet ganache.

What are you most proud of? People ate it and were surprized by how realistic it looked.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Working with butter cream in a warm environment is not the easiest thing to do. Add more Crisco to butter ratio to help stiffen this.

Thank you. After shaping the book part of this cake I not just crumb coated it but also built up areas so as to make it look as close to the real thing as I could. I used swiss butter cream for this. Delicious stuff that butter cream. I followed the Craftsy course on butter cream when making it. I then put the cake into the freezer for about 15 minutes-just to harden the butter cream. I carefully placed a sheet of paper on the rigid cake to get an accurate template for the pages. I then used a dedicated printer for icing sheets, which I bought through the Web site Icing Images to print pages from an actual Bible which I had earlier photographed. After placing the icing sheet with this edible image I placed the cake back into the freezer to harden the butter cream so that I could use a fan brush to apply the edging color that was mixed with alcohol. No luster dust was used.
