Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Circular Knit Lab: Hats Four Ways »

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Whimsical, Cute, Casual, Outdoorsy

Materials

For the red hat, I used Great Adirondack Yarn Company's merino bulky cranberry yarn. For the blue hat, it's Merino 12 Layers merino wool lapis yarn.

What was your inspiration?

Caitlyn is my second granddaughter, and because my knitting skills have progressed, I thought I'd challenge myself and make her a hat. I made not only one, but two hats because the first one was a bit large. Stefanie Japel provided excellent instruction!

What are you most proud of?

The ease with which I made the hats!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be very mindful that making these easy-to-knit hats is an addictive experience. I'm now thinking about all of the people -- big and small -- for whom I can make a hat!

Both lovely...I especially like how the stitch definition pops with the blue-ish yarn :)

Thanks, and I agree. The blue hat, because of the characteristics of the yarn, really showcases the pattern.

Good question. The instructions didn't specify, but I used a bit less than half a skein of yard. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks! I think you'll really enjoy making the hat, especially since it's relatively quick and easy...and the end result can be quite nice.
