Instructions

In this lesson you will learn how to cage a round bead or marble with loops at each end to act as a link in your design.

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Funky, Classic, Cute, Whimsical, Romantic, Traditional, Casual

Materials

15" square wire 6" half round wire 1-20mm round bead

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to use these large beads in a necklace without simply stringing them on beading wire or making loops at each end. So I decided to make a caged bead that I would be able to link with other caged beads.

What are you most proud of?

This was my first attempt at designing something with wire without looking at a tutorial and making it. This is entirely my design.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use dead soft wire so that while you are making this project the wire doesn't get too stiff. Also, if you are just learning use practice wire like copper or brass before you move to more expensive wires.

Thanks. You can make it with any kind of bead or marble and any wire as long as it's dead soft so you can manipulate the wire.
