Nob Hill, Kings Road Tweed Yarn, Olive. Hook I, 5.5 mm

What was your inspiration?

Falling in love with cables, and this sweater pattern: http://www.coatsandclark.com/NR/rdonlyres/A871F022-8B5C-404F-8942-32C8ADFD3086/54630/cables.pdf

What are you most proud of?

The texture and the depth of the cables. These are fairly easy front post cables worked on the front side, the wrong side is worked in the background stitch only. Because the yarn is fairly bulky I chose "woven stitch" to make a flatter less dense fabric The background is sc, ch, sc, with the sc of the next row worked in the ch of previous row.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The fronts and back were worked to the size of a template of one of my favorite vests. The woven stitch makes a more open fabric than all sc or hdc so the edges of the crossed cable show more gap than I'd like, will try a less bulky yarn next time. The vertical cables are dc, the crosses are treble.

No pattern, it is freeform, crocheted to the size of a template made from a vest that fits well. The sweater pattern referenced above has good info on the stitches used.
