What was your source for this crocheting project?
Online Photo or Website
Your Flipping Link Name of website or photo Buttoned Gingham Valance
What materials did you use? 6 balls light green crochet cotton, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls; a size 7 (1.65 mm) steel crochet hook; 20 - 7/8" decorative buttons; and 1 spool of 1/8" wide satin ribbon (or sewing thread) to match.
What are you most proud of? I like how the different stitches create the light to dark shades of the squares, and the medium shaded square is even worked in a gingham-type pattern. This valance could also be made in any color to fit any decor and you can use your favorite buttons to add your own flair!
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Follow the stitch definitions carefully. The pattern uses dc2tog stitches in the filled blocks; it also uses diagonal blocks for the medium shade appearance. The valance is worked from the top down. A graph is also provided for reference. The finished size is 63-1/2" wide x 19" long (from top of rod). A repeat in the pattern is provided to increase the width in 3-1/4" increments. This pattern is available for $3.50 and is written in U.S. terms.
