Instructions

I bought and used the Sewing with knits class, it gave some really useful pointers on sewing with knit fabrics and worth every penny as nothing went wrong whilst I was making this dress.

Get yourself a walking foot and use a rtiple stitch

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Formal / Bridal, Classic

Materials

Dark aubergine Ponteroma fabric with two way stretch.

What was your inspiration?

I loved the form hugging design of this pattern and was interested in having a go at working with stretch fabrics. The pintucks are reasonably easy to do and add an interesting element to the design.

What are you most proud of?

I love the finished dress and felt really good in it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Definitely buy yourself a walking foot, I did and it was worth every penny, and investigate your machine to see if it has a triple stitch that allows the fabric to stretch without any thread breakages.

Make sure to iron at each stage.

Your looks great and what a lovely jacket to go with it. Is the jacket a stretch knit as well?

No, the jacket isn't stretch and is a bought jacket. I only made the dress but they go together quite well. Thanks you for your nice comment.
