There are some nice colors here. Now take a moment to look away from the photo then look back quickly. What do you see first? Try to see it as someone who is not taking a class, i.e., the average viewer. They will first see the bright colors of the flowers, not the butterfly. The butterfly is dark and blends with its surroundings, too. You saw the subject just fine, but the camera could care less about subjects. It only cares about brightness and color and is overemphasizing that in the photo.
