Instructions
I only used the course for the rose decoration. I signed up for the class less than 24 hours ago and already utilized one technique--money well spent! The pattern I designed myself. I will be selling these soon.Difficulty:

A cute wallet/clutch/wristlet I designed. For this version I upcycled men's business casual wear and decorated it with the rose twisting technique from the Sewing Texture class. I used material from slacks for the exterior, dress shirt for the interior, and a tie as the strip for the twisted rose. An inset interior zipper pocket for change and the zipper closure make this a tricker pattern, so may not be for beginners.
What was your inspiration?
I wanted to find a way to upcycle my boyfriend's worn out work clothes and ties he didn't want anymore. We give most of them to charity, but I just could not resist keeping some for my sewing stash. When I saw the technic for twisting flowers in the Sewing Texture class, I just had to see if a tie could work for the flower. Since it was silk, I serged the edges before twisting.
What are you most proud of?
I am proud of the design I created, getting the rose right on my first try and upcycling.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Try this class for adding texture to you creations. I am an experienced seamstress, but still learned a new technic. And the bonus class on shirring is great.
