What materials did you use? Linen for main fabric lined with cotton lawn

What are you most proud of? Straight lines on pure linen! It was a challenge with this stitch

What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's fun and you will start looking at seams a different way

Hi Island girl 22 , the foot I used to make this ( just the middle lace bit) is called a frindge foot or a tailors foot . I have janome machines and I got it on the Internet . The foot looks like it has a blade in the middle so make sure you only use a zigzag stitch on it , I accident

Wow! That is beautiful! I love the simple elegance of it. I also like the shape of the top - especially the width of the shoulder seams - not a tank top, but not what I think of as sleeveless. What pattern did you start with?

08/11/2013 Flag

Hi, the pattern I used is new look 6356 it an easy two hour one!! That's once you have made a test garment and done your alterations, then you can do so many variations its like a different top all the time.

And forgot to ask - is there a zipper (or other closure) on the back?

08/11/2013 Flag

Yes it has a zip but I have done it several times without . The one I did is the boat neck version , there is also v neck. Round neck and square neck. I used binding instead of facings for the sleeves much neater and no chance of it popping out when you least expect it!

Very beautiful stitching. What machine did you use and what stitch? Thank you for sharing.
