Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Intro to Modeling Chocolate: Cityscape Cakes »

Instructions

I made this cake for a friend of mine who's son was turning 21.

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Unisex

Style: Outdoorsy, Casual, Funky

Materials

Modeling chocolate to give the cake the wood bucket look, then used sculpting tools to give the grain effect and dusted with petal dust. Made my own sugar to make the bottles and ice. The bottles are a mold, labels are made with edible ink & frosting sheets. Beer caps I made by had using modeling chocolate and colored with luster dust mixture.

What was your inspiration?

It was just for fun for a friend who wanted something for her son who was turning 21 with the beer theme and this is what I came up with, I have seen several cakes like this and I wanted to give it a try.

What are you most proud of?

This was my first time working with making sugar! I was really happy with the way the bottles and ice turned out especially color wise. Plus everything was edible!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time and plan ahead to make the accessories. Makes it much easier.
