I've been wanting to make a spiral lone star quilt (a la Jan Krentz) for a long time, so I finally took the plunge. When I finished the main spiral, the colors seemed more "bubble-gummy" than I had intended, so I decided to combine black with the 8 main colors to tone it down a little. Then the black started looking too somber, so I switched to a light mustard color for the setting diamonds. (Needless to say, I didn't follow Jan's advice to plan it all out in advance!) Now I need to decide what to put in the corners. I'm pretty pleased with it technically. It's not really that hard to match those points if you're careful. The hardest thing so far is the Y seams of the setting diamonds.

wow---beautiful--- I think it depends on where you are going to put it--wall color??? frame?Look at the bronze color you have in the background--it blends, has texture but does not take away from the beauty

I don't think you would have done any better if you HAD planned your colors ahead. I absolutely love the way the design moves around. It is striking!
