What materials did you use? Cottons, flowers fussy-cut from vintage flour sack fabric. The "vase" and border are made from polished cotton, also vintage. Some of the flower petals are "dimensional" in that I appliqued the same petals from other areas in the fabric. The flowers were re-positioned to make my own floral arrangement.

What are you most proud of? I am most pleased that the flowers seem to glow, as if a bright light was projected on them. Perhaps the dark solid background added to this illusion.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I would suggest you research the "broidery perse' type of applique and study examples you run across. Don't be afraid to re-position flowers to create the illusion of movement. It might help to look at floral arrangements to see how to make a pleasing 'bouquet'.

Thank you! I taught a class in Broidery Perse at my local senior center and it was well-received The ladies loved the process. We even went to the fabric store to select appropriate "applique-able" flowers. The ladies cut out their own vase-shapes so every piece was different and unique. I encourage you to try this process. I know you will love it!
