What was your inspiration?
Since taking Susan Khalje's Couture Dress class, I seem to be incapable of making anything without using her methods. I underlined the coat with silk organza and lined it with silk crepe de chine. I also used some flannel scraps to make sleeve heads. I used silk buttonhole twist, doubled, for the prick stitched understitching around the neck edge, which shows up much better than just using ordinary thread. It almost looks like little french knots. Other than addiing a split cuff to the sleeve, I didn't make any changes.
What are you most proud of?
This is an easy pattern and the fit is good. Silk brocade is a lovely fabric to work with.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time and enjoy the process!
