Brimmed Cabled Hat

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Cable Hat »

Instructions

I followed the pattern for the cable hat as listed until I got to the length I desired, then I fashioned a brim instead of adding ribbing.

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Casual, Cute

Materials

superwash merino wool

What was your inspiration?

I found a knit hat that I loved, but I cannot knit. So I "modified" this wonderful crochet pattern by adding the brim. It was supposed to be for me, but as you can see from pictures it also fit my (then 5 year old) son.

What are you most proud of?

After lots of starting over and frogging, I finally figured out the crocheted cables!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Start slow and read through the pattern first.

This is great. Did you put something in the brim to stiffen it up?

The brim is actually crocheted flat and then folded under and sewed in place, which makes it stiff enough to stand out like it does. Hope that helps =)
