What was your inspiration?

Brighter Than the Sun is the title of a song by Colbie Caillat on her album All Of It. This piece was created for Artprize which is a public art show in Grand Rapids, MI. This is my first time entering Artprize. I am one of 13 women who each created a 14x14" piece. Each woman has their own medium. Mine is fabric, quilting and fiber arts. We framed each piece with a black frame and hung it together to represent a quilt. The theme is "Sustenance of Life." What sustains you as a woman, an artist, a human? We can each create our own art and come together to represent the whole, each sustaining the other. My inspiration is from God, who I believe is Brighter Than the Sun!

This is the final project for the class Stupendous Stitching. I really enjoyed this class and the instructor.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of creating a piece from an online course to enter an art show with other women. We have had great feedback on our installation and I am proud to be a part of it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to create the ideas you have floating around in your head. Miracles happen when you trust yourself to do it!
