What was your inspiration?
The upcoming 50th wedding anniversary of my Uncle Junior and Aunt Helen O'Brate Christiansen in 1995. It was my surprise anniversary gift for them. I am Helen's namesake, and she is my dad's little sister, and the only girl in a family with 5 older brothers. Junior has been a farmer all of his life. They lived in the same community all of their married life.
What are you most proud of?
That they took the bride and groom home and encased them in a large glass case and proudly displayed it in the living room of their beautiful home for all to see. My uncle died 2 years ago and Helen is 90 years young and resides happily in a nursing home in a town in Colorado where she taught school many years. What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you have patience you might give it a try. Take a deep breath first, though!
