What materials did you use? The first picture is colours and patterns I really like, with dark and pale colours, more on the autumn sort of colours. I also really like simple gradations of colours. The second picture is of colours and patterns I struggle to use, with brights or pale florals.

The second picture does not appear to have any brights in it at all, to me. It just has dark hues of fabric. It would be good for those historical quilts I bet. I personally do not gravitate towards the duller dark fabrics. I like much brighter fabrics like you seem to. In fact I love the bottom three rows of your first block.

I was sorting my material and found I had a lot of wild colours like the ones that you are not comfortable with. I struggle to use them but because I have grand kids it seem to have accumulated a large amount of UNUSED colours. There is something appealing about your bright orange and yellow squares though...might relook at mine.
