What was your inspiration?

I made this for my long time girl friend who just lost her youngest son from complications of diabetes.
The black represents grief.pain, anger and extreme sadness.
The bright colors represent hope, love, happiness and peace.
The blue border represnets love of family and friends.
The gold border represents God's love that surrounds us all.
The backing is black with dots of all the colors from the front and it represents all the lives he touched.
(He was a basketball coach)
The quilting had hearts here and there and that represents my love for her.

My 15 year old daughter has diabetes and this really touched me. It touched me so much that I am going to make it in spirit of you and your friend. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful quilt and the reson behind why you picked each color. This quilt is amazing, you did a fantastic job. I am sure your friend was touched. I know I am.
