This jacket is relatively simple to make. But working with velvet and pressing it, you must remember to use a velvet board. If you don't have a velvet board, then try pressing on the wrong side of the fabric with the right side over a towel ( practice on swatch of fabric first). This keeps the velvet from getting press marks or sheen/burned marks.Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
Little Will had to have this made for a wedding he was in at the beginning of December. His mother already had the fabric and all notions, including the pattern, she just needed someone to make it.
What are you most proud of?
I was most proud when Will, 4yrs. old, tried on the jacket and didn't want to take it off. His mother had to pull it off of him twice. He stayed in the mirror posing because he was so proud of his jacket!
I didn't have to make the pants because the bride had already ordered his pants from a tuxedo shop, along with the belt to wear with this.
This was a 3-day notice deal. So, I'm extremely happy that it was a perfect fit!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time and use the proper pressing tools if you're using velvet like I did here.
