Sorry, I'm a beginner and pretty much just follow patterns with minor alterations. You might want to try contacting the designer. Alternatively you might want to do a swatch to check your gage and then google a. Baby size chart and do the math to enlarge ithe pattern.

What ply weight was your yarn? Sports weight? 4 ply weight?

Caron calls it a 4 ply worsted #4, but to me it seems thinner; more between sport and worsted. This site won't let me post the link to Caron simply soft so you will have to google it for more info.

I have made a bunch of these sweaters several years ago from an old pattern I found and using different sizes of thread. The only problem I came across was the thicker the thread the less the decorative stitches in the yoke showed up. For a baby boy, that doesn't really matter, but for a baby girl it added a little something.

Want to try this for my grandson, but he is very big 6 month old (20 pounds) will this fit or can it be modified to be made bigger? Thank you :-)

I suspect that you can make it bigger by casting on more stitches depending on your gage. Since it is done top down you can make the body and sleeves as long as you wish.

Love the sweater but the instructions does not say when to change colors to make it look like the original as pictures above. Maybe you just have to use your own judgement.

Yup, that is what I did....I just made it up as I went along. I knew I liked the idea of a wide stripe flanked by thin stripes so that's what I did.

I don't have any grandkids or prospects for them either, but there are la lot of charities here that really appreciate receiving these. Sadly in these bad economic times there is a lot of need.
