Boy Scout coat - remade
pocket from coat holds paper awards
What materials did you use?
old Boy Scout coat, badges, wool felt
What are you most proud of?
Coming up with a unique gift after so many years together (42). I also like the arrow my son made me to hang it with. I used a metal plate hanger to hold the books.
What a great way to display the badges. My 10 year old niece just gave me my brother's badges and asked that I put them on a shirt. I suggested a banner or something for the wall. I love this idea. My brother died 18 months ago and is still very much on our minds.
The wool coat was great to work with, and I liked having the pocket for the paper stuff. Have fun. It will be good to think about your brother as you work on it. I lost my son 13 years ago and he never leaves my heart.
Being try involved with both Boy Scouts of Canada and the US in the past, I think this is a great idea for displaying badges
Where did you get the arrow?
My son used a wood dowel he "whittled" on a bit and stained. He made the arrow head out of a piece of metal he pounded & painted glossy black strapped it together with thin leather strips. It could also be used to hang a small quilt or tab top balance or photos
