Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I learned from Pat Weaver's video how to paint pet portraits in Acrylic. while the first few turned out great, i struggle with the medium. So I decided to do this lovely girl boxer in oil paint. This is a beloved family member of a friend who commissioned this portrait.

I think this is a very good painting of this Boxer, but I don't like the way it is cut off, ragged looking at the bottom. You could have softened this down, losing some edges. This is where a background color would have worked. You could merge the shoulders into the background and painted the chest to the bottom of the canvas, I think that would look better.

Thank you! I will definitely explore a background color next time and soften the edges to blend in and lose the ragged edges. I appreciate the feedback and you are very generous with your experience and help! I love to always be learning :)
