Once again, I opted not to use the skirt portion of the Bustier Dress pattern, instead creating a simple double-layered gathered skirt from this peach cotton voile. I like pairing the fitted, structured bodice of the Bombshell dress with something softer and floatier on the bottom. Um, so...make a huge rectangle, sew it together on one side, and then gather along the top for an instant skirt!Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
I had just a half-yard of this bow print cotton left over from another project (it's Marc Jacobs and I found it in the Garment District for just $5/yard!), so I thought making a bombshell dress bodice would be the best way to use up this gorgeous navy and peach print. I wore this to my best friend's outdoor wedding reception. I adore it.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Think outside the pattern a little. You don't need to match your bodice to your skirt, and you don't have to use the draped skirt pattern if something different would suit your style better.
