I used a synthetic "silk" for this project. Much more economical, but as it is fairly thin I had to underline the skirt too. So, it was a little extra work, but it turned out well. Love this pattern and this course- I've been sewing for about 17 years and I picked up lots of great new techniques I'd never done before.Difficulty:

What are you most proud of?
Taking my sewing skills to a new level and accomplishing techniques I'd never attempted before resulting in the most detailed garment I've ever made :)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This dress takes time. I can usually make a dress start to finish in 4-5 hours. This was about 3 solid days of work for me. If I make it again I think it would go much much faster, but the first time is slow with watching the video for each step, pausing, replaying, replaying again, sewing, checking you did it right, etc. If you are making this for a special occasion I would recommend starting it a minimum of a week ahead of time. Totally worth the effort though!
