I would like a quilt frame but I don't know if I could justify the cost. Do you think it would be worth it for me, if I plan to make only six to twelve quilts? I am 66 and have a hand peaced quilt top my grandmother made that I would like to quilt by hand, a few of her quilts I would like to mend as well as making some for my daughter and grandchildren. What do you think of the likelyhood of me finding a used frame or being able to rent or borrow one. I don't belong to a quilting group but could look into one. I am almost home bound so it would be difficult for me to go out to attend meetings. I am in alaska so our winters add to my difficulties. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So glad to hear from you. I would suggest going to the Grace Frame Co. website and check out the Start Right Frame. Their website is graceframe.com. I bought the Start Right Frame (up to queen size quilts) & had the Brother 1500 machine. Total cost was under $2,000. We live on a tight budget so this worked well for me. The frame takes up half of a small bedroom. I can tell you their customer service was the best I have ever had. You can call them too. Their representatives were so helpful. You can also rent frame time at most quilt stores. Good luck. Stay warm. Merry Christmas.
