What are you most proud of? I didn't like the gold and teal in the original block that I made, so I remade it today and I like this one. For some reason it makes me think of a fire opal, it's rather glowing from across the room. I like the original, just not in this quilt with the color direction I ended up taking.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Enjoy yourself!

I volunteer to adopt the original!!!! this is one of my most favorite blocks... and I am going to check out the rest of your blocks to see why you replaced it!!! :D

I think I should mail the original to you and you should add a row and mail it to someone else and they should add a row, etc. till we feel it's"done" and then give it to our instructor...LOL

like this versoin a lot, i think its that secondary spin off the middle, using the stripey fabric, looks like a fan- very nice, thanks for sharing it!!

It's funny how fabric placement can totally change the way a block reads.

Sometimes as we progress with a quilt project we find a particular block or fabric "does not play well with others". Nothing wrong with the one but not the best place for it. Your replacement block fits right in with your other blocks. I agree with your decision to change. Looking forward seeing a complete quilt of your blocks.

Thank you, I think the new block works very well.

For the sashing, maybe one of those pastel KF fabrics - might really set off the darker more intense blocks you have - I'm assuming you want to keep the KF theme going!

You know I do! Not sure what I'll pick, going over in a couple weeks to audition fabric, my knee should be a bit better by then. The store is a little over an hour from here but she has an amazing selection of Kaffe.
