Here are some details about my project:

What materials did you use? scraps from prior quilts, mostly left over binding strips.

What are you most proud of? Persistance -- kept at it until I had a block I liked & still trying new things

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This was my 1st try at applique, so for us beginners.... http://www.connectingthreads.com/tutorials/Applique-Turned_Edge_Prep__D48.html http://www.connectingthreads.com/tutorials/Applique_Tutorial-Freezer_Paper_Technique_Video__D40.html Also, I just used my regular iron since I don't have a mini-iron. Used steam OFF & WOOL setting.

I've seen the error of my ways and instead of the scrapy look I like this much better. Beautiful!

Thanks a lot. This was made from scraps, but just a little more organized =) I'm too anal to just let it go!

Yeah. More organized. When the instructions said various width I never thought that early in this process that maybe I would want to make it different. Have you seen the April block done as a treasure chest. It is so inventive.

I'm a little leery of the April paper piecing. I got some card stock to make the hex forms, & watched the video but that's it so far....

Yes, I finally found it; pretty cool! I'm starting my Apr blocks today and thinking of doing an underwater scene since I've got some fabric w/ a 'Finding Nemo' look that I could do some fussy cutting on.

It is not my favorite but kind of grew on me after working with it. Didn't like the plan for the 2nd block and I don't think I was alone! Design your own and have fun!

Funny you said design your own.... Check out 'Another teal string block' I added. This was made by piecing strips of different widths (larges on the outside), then cutting the set at 45 degree angles. I'm obessed w/ borders, so added 1 too.

I like it! I was refering to thenew hexi block though where the 2nd block was re-designed by most.

Finding Nemo theme sounds cute. I'm looking forward to seeing what ou create.

On the coral reef, 2 of the hexes are turned the wrong direction =( It was supposed to look like all the coral was growing from the 'rock' at the bottom. Ripping out applique stitch is a PAIN, so called it good enough for 1st try.
