Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Unisex

Style: Mod, Traditional, Classic

Materials

Cotton batiks, and an odd and end or two from my stash.

What was your inspiration?

Amy, of course! She makes everything look so easyand then I discover it really IS easy.

What are you most proud of?

I decided to try the Ricky Timms way to make flying geese (one seam); worked fine and opened the possibility of making cathedral windows with them. Uses exactly the same piecing sizes and quantities as the class method, but you don't get the little extra triangle for other projects (or waste, depending on your preference). This method does make little "pockets" of each flying geese triangle, but I think I'll close those when I quilt. Next one I try, though, will be with cathedral windows!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Experiment with all the ways of making flying geese; then you'll know which works best with the particular block you are making.

Whatever method you used, your points are so exact and precise. Your blocks are very nice!
