Craftsy Block of the Month 2013 with Laura Nownes »
Instructions
Watch your measurement closely. Be sure that you are using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. The instructor has great tips for this.Category: Quilting
Type of item: Functional
For: Girls
Style: Whimsical, Funky, Cute
Materials
Fabric from my little girls old clothes and cotton thread. Gridded ruler and special cutting board with rotary cutter.
What was your inspiration?
Making something to have as a keepsake. I'm using the clothes that my Daughter wore during her 1 and 2nd year of life. She is now 3. Maybe she will use it for a long time. Or pass it on to her daughter one day.
What are you most proud of?
This is my first attempt at making a quilt. I've had a fear of dealing with all the cutting and piecing together of a quilt. Maybe taking it slow with the BOM, it won't seem so daunting of a task. Garment making has always been my passion.
I'm loving the look of the blocks so far.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Make sure your cutting in precise. Also that you use the 1/4 inch seam allowance. As a beginner, this has been my challenge. So the blocks come out the proper finished measurement. Mine have come out 6 x 6, instead of 6.5 x 6.5.
