Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Mod

Materials

Fabric from the Makower Sew Patchwork range and the background fabirc is makower spectrum range

What was your inspiration?

Always wanted to do patchwork and quilting and noticed this course mentioned on a forum. It's exactly what I was after and being a monthly thing there is no pressure on trying to get it done

What are you most proud of?

I've now managed to catch up (following house move and summer hols with children) and I've nearly completed it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I normally watch the video, then print the notes and off I go, creating a block. However this one needed a second viewing! It's not particularly difficult once you ge the hang of which side up the fabric goes and how the paper interacts with the fabric. Once you get going it's fairly easy. I personally cut all my fabric first by measuring the sections and adding the 1/2" seam allowances. This way I could easily sew without having to then find which fabric I needed next.

Love your blocks - colours go well together - and good advice regarding cutting all the material first makes it much easier.
