I kind of thought the same thing when I saw the octagon we were supposed to do! I did keep with the octagon theme though!!!

Nice variation...I'm doing a variation of this block too...stay tuned. The beauty of this class is that you can either make what is shown or be creative with it. Some of us have more quilting experience, while others are beginners. Nice block!

I do love this block as you have done it and the colors too. I don't see the original patterns as boring, as a few others have mentioned, but as a place for the eye to rest from time to time in an otherwise busy quilt or fabric. Also, it looks quick and simple to do. I am looking forward to it.
