What was your inspiration?

Block of the Month Free Lessons right here on Craftsy.

What are you most proud of?

Getting better at lining up the slashed pieces.
Not perfect, but I think I did pretty good for the first go round at making a quilt block. Thanks for the help with the tutorial video.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take it slow and easy and don't get too upset if it doesn't turn out perfect. The character of the quilt will be in the imperfections as well as the colors. The technique is the important part of learning this quilt.

I agree, my mom always told me that the little imperfections shows that it was hand made giving it more feeling than something machine made and store bought. I love learning the techniques and only hope to get better, not necesarily perfect. Thanks for the ecouragements.

You did a great job! Don't beat yourself up. From a math standpoint, it's impossible to line up the strips on the block, you would actually have to cut a piece the width of the inserted strip plus seam inorder to have them "match". Look at all the other folks blocks and you will notice, none of them "match" up. I think that is part of the charm of this block...freedom and abandon.

To get my pound sign block to line up (after unpicking it) I marked both seams on both pieces and lined the marks up.
