used spray baste to set the blocks on the line hexi block.. uses a decorative stitch on my machine.. make sure that you Iron your hexis with a very hot iron and a a very hard surface.. this allows the seam fold lines to be very crisp .. I did not use any starch.. I do not have any and wanted to get busy sewing.. I found directions to make a wooden ironing board using mdf , tin foil and the regular ironing board cover cloth.. do not over pad this as the padding does not make as crisp a fold.. I also used a substructure piece of cloth to add the hexis to first.. then sewed them all to the base fabric.. that worked very well..
Nice take on this one with flowers instead of sun. I too am not so sure this is the type of block I would want to do a lot of, but haven't done mine yet. Hand quilting is not my prefered method, but willing to learn.
Well I am not into hand sewing.. and I did not do any hand sewing.. read the rest of my blogs on this page.. you may be able to sew it too with you machine
Plus I went and got my stapler and used it instead of basting.. the smallest ones were hard to work with.. I most likely wont do this type of quilting again.. but will see.. I will have to have a piece I have to do
I also hate hand sewing so I tried a few things to make it a machine project.. I used fusable mesh.. as well as a very hot iron and a wooden board..ironed it so flat that the mesh worked..
This is the 2nd version of the hexi block With my twist on it.. The rose patch made me want to have a hexi bouquet.. maybe it is Hexi sunset bouquet .. ha ha ha
