What was your inspiration?

This month, Amy Gibson challenged us with English paper pieced hexagons for April's Block of the Month quilting course. I was stumped. It was my first experience with paper piecing, and it's a lot of work! I ended up arranging my hexagons in a somewhat organic way...

I have no idea how people do entire quilts with this method, such patience and tenacity is required!!

What are you most proud of?

Doing most of the sewing by hand was a bit of an accomplishment. I am usually a strictly machine piecing person.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have a thimble on hand (or finger). It's a great investment.

Thank you! Most were scraps, but some were from a Benartex collection called "spirographix".

I cut off the top of a rubber glove to use in place of a thimble. I have mint ready to be put together but there it sits in my cloet.

That's good tip! (no pun intended) I'll give it a try!
