Great choice to use black background and sashing. You must be a very confident quilter to choose light colored thread for the free motion quilting. Fantastic job!

Gorgeous. I just started doing the Craftsy BOM and am doing a black background too. What width sashing did you do around the blocks? Thanks for the inspiration. Great job on the quilting as well.

Thank you Sweet Jasmine. The sashing is 1 inches wide and 2 inches in the border.

Thanks. I noticed that your 2nd hexagon block represents the moon and a boat on water. I'm going to borrow your idea! :-)

Thank you ste. No I'm not a beginner - been quilting for about 25 years but decided to do the BOM as there's always something new to learn!

Beautiful. I did mine with a dark brown background. I have been debating if I should use contrasting sashing or the same as my background.

Thank you Auntie Belle! I felt that using the same background makes the blocks "float". Using contrasting would give each block a definite border. It depends on the final look that you want.
